Built in 1928 at the express wish of benefactor Giuseppe Rossi of Castelrotto, who left all his assets to establish a non-profit foundation whose purpose was, and still is, to run an acute care hospital, it was officially inaugurated on November 11, 1928.
The Malcantonese Hospital is located in Castelrotto, a charming village in Malcantone surrounded by greenery and nature typical of the region.
After several modifications and transformations, the Malcantonese Hospital is now an institution capable of best meeting the needs of the population, welcoming its patients in a familiar and peaceful environment.
The institution, which is registered in the hospital planning of the Canton of Ticino, with mandates in internal medicine and psychiatry and authorized to practice under the compulsory health insurance scheme in accordance with Article 39 of the Federal Health Insurance Act (LAMal), welcomes private, semi-private, and general ward patients as well as outpatients.
It provides acute, post-acute, psychiatric, and rehabilitative care.
It is a member of the Association of Private Clinics in Ticino (ACPT), Swiss Private Clinics, and H+Swiss Hospitals.
LESS INTENSIVE ACUTE CARE UNIT
With a view to providing comprehensive and interdisciplinary care, RAMI offers individualized diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services for an appropriate length of stay, with the aim of restoring as much autonomy as possible to the patient.
It accepts people referred to the Institute either directly by local doctors or by other hospitals, with an indication of post-acute hospitalization.
- In accordance with the new cantonal guidelines, patients must contribute to the cost of their stay with a daily contribution of CHF 30.00, up to a maximum of CHF 600.00 per year.
- Patients can also benefit from personalized interventions carried out by physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, and social workers.
PSYCHIATRY DEPARTMENT
The department treats patients with a wide range of mental disorders, from affective to anxiety syndromes, from personality disorders (often associated with affective disorders) to non-acute psychoses.
The team will develop a personalized treatment plan with the aim of improving the patient's clinical condition within a reasonable time frame (taking care not to encourage regressive behavior or force a purely symptomatic remission) and preparing them for their return home or, if necessary, to residential facilities, with the help of external collaborators.
OUTPATIENT SERVICE
The outpatient service, which is a new offering from our Institute, will give the local population the opportunity to take advantage of the following services on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.:
- cardiology consultations with ECG, stress tests, 24-hour Holter monitoring, and echocardiograms;
- pulmonology consultations with spirometry and specialized physiotherapists;
- cardiovascular prevention program (with interventions by a cardiologist, nurse, dietitian, and physical therapist);
- conventional radiographic examinations;
- physical therapy;
- occupational therapy
- nutritional counseling.
