Institute fully integrated into the public health system of the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale from January 1, 2021, Cardiocentro Ticino was established as a private foundation in 1995 at the behest of donor Dr. Eduard Zwick and thanks to the indefatigable and far-sighted commitment of Prof. Tiziano Moccetti, who has held the reins for more than 20 years since its inauguration on July 1, 1999.
Today, the Cardiocentro is not only is an indispensable garrison in the area for the prevention and treatment of cardiac pathology, but a reality of international prestige, a protagonist in research and strongly committed to training, with important and constant medical and scientific relations with renowned universities and research institutes in Switzerland and around the world. Most recently, Cardiocentro has made its expertise and structure available for the organization and start-up of the new Faculty of Biomedical Sciences from the University of Lugano in Switzerland, with a leading role in the development of the Master's program in human medicine launched in 2020.
