Domaine de la Roche 1859 - Sandrine Bersier - Dardagny Geneva
In 1859, our farming family, originally from Choully, settled in Dardagny to cultivate their land and press the fruit of their labor using a stone press dating from 1856, which still adorns the magnificent farmhouse today. Today, 160 years later, we are the fifth and sixth generations to run the estate with the same respect and passion for our terroir. For us, 2018 is synonymous with renewal: giving the estate a name and creating our own range of wines is a process that makes perfect sense, highlighting the richness of our magnificent vineyard. It is our hope that Domaine de la Roche 1859 will continue to thrive for many generations to come.
The Vineyard
Our 13 hectares of vines are cultivated according to Swiss PI (Integrated Production) agricultural standards, with a focus on respecting the environment and promoting sustainable development. The rows are grassed and the phytosanitary treatment plan is based on Bio Suisse specifications. We grow grape varieties that have diversified over the years. To date, the estate has 10 different AOC grape varieties. For whites: Chasselas, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Riesling x Sylvaner, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and for reds: Gamay, Pinot Noir, Gamaret and Merlot.
The Cellar
The first four wines were produced by Sandrine Bersier at the Clos du Château in Choully. The magnificent original cellar, dating from 1800, was completely renovated in 2010 and is equipped with state-of-the-art cellar equipment. The experience of Lionel Dugerdil and his team, combined with high-quality work in the vineyard, has enabled us to produce some little gems. Being based in Geneva, it was obvious that we wanted to make Chasselas and Gamay wines, and the result is delightful—both wines are exceptional. The choice of the other two grape varieties was based on our personal tastes: we love Chardonnay, and the "Les Communailles" plot is a real gem! The same goes for Gamaret, with a beautiful plot and magnificent fruit.
Tasting
We welcome you to our authentic tasting cellar in Dardagny, and, weather permitting, outside in the sunshine, in our 18th-century farmhouse. You can taste our range of wines, accompanied by commentary on their journey from bud to bottle.
If you wish, we can organize a tour of the estate, walking along a few vineyard paths to the heart of the vineyard and introducing you to our fascinating profession.
Simple tasting, tour of the estate, vineyard walk or even an aperitif with friends, family or colleagues—several options are available. We will select a few local products to accompany our wines. For children, there is the option of tasting apple juice and grape juice from the region.
Depending on the package, we can accommodate up to 60 people.
