Beeindruckt waren wir vom Barriquekeller mit dem theatralisch aufgemachten Cheminée mit echtem Feuer, dem informativen Museum, natürlich der modernen Produktion und nicht zuletzt dem sorgfältig betreuten Reifelager für den Aceto balsamico. Die liebevoll gestaltete Degustation bildete den krönenden Abschluss. Beim anschliessenden Diner in der Botega del Vino in Locarno war das Team dort für eine nahtlose Fortsetzung des gelungenen Anlasses besorgt.

THE BIRTH OF CANTINA BÖSCIORO Cantina Böscioro was founded in 1992 by Vosti Enos and Gabriela with the construction of the cellar in Gerra-Piano. The name Böscioro comes from the dialect of the chimney sweep of Vogorno and means wine. At first, it was a secondary activity, but over time, with much passion and dedication, the company grew, increasing both grape and wine production. REQUEST A QUOTE A NEW ERA FOR CANTINA BÖSCIORO In 2004, Enos and his son Sandro, who had just completed his studies at the specialized school of Changins as a winemaker and oenologist, took the big step, dedicating themselves 100% to the winemaking business. The cellar has seen steady growth over the years, and in 2023, the baton was passed to son Sandro, still with the help of the whole family. Today, the cellar produces high-quality wines that reflect the commitment and passion of the Böscioro family for viticulture. THE PRIVILEGED POSITION OF CANTINA BÖSCIORO'S VINEYARDS Cantina Böscioro, located in the Ticino region of Italian-speaking Switzerland, owns several parcels of vineyard land distributed throughout the surrounding area, including those located in the Gerra Piano area, where the cellar is located. The geographical location of the region, with its Mediterranean climate and exposure to the sun, offers optimal conditions for grape cultivation and the production of high-quality wines. In particular, the vineyards are located in hilly areas between Gordola and Gudo, where they benefit from excellent sun exposure that allows for high-quality grapes. Part of the vineyards are partially mechanized with small tools, while another part is located in the plains in Quartino, where another grape variety is cultivated. All this contributes to ensuring the excellence of the wines produced by Cantina Böscioro. PRODUCTION OF HIGH-QUALITY WINES AND ATTENTION TO GRAPE SELECTION Cantina Böscioro is a company dedicated to the production of high-quality wines, carefully selecting the grapes grown in its own vineyards. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the cellar and carefully selected to produce different qualities of wine, including whites, rosés, and reds. THE CELLAR Visit and Tasting THE DOMAINE AND ITS WINE CELLAR – PLACES STEEPED IN HISTORY Our Domaine is located in Balavaud, a hamlet of the comune of Vétroz situated at the heart of the Valais and the Rhone Valley, famous for its warm, dry microclimate in the summer months. Our imposing wine cellar and other facilities for winemaking, aging and bottling greet visitors at the entrance to the village and are open for tour by appointment. A site of particular interest and well worth a detour is the ancient bicentennial vaulted cellar where our earliest vintages were pressed in 1896. Today this splendid hall steeped in history and emotion is entirely dedicated to the fascination of the world of wine. The cellar is equipped to accommodate groups of up to seventy and offers ideal conditions for wine-tasting in authentic traditional surroundings. Under normal weather conditions it maintains normal business hours in order to allow wine-loving visitors to stop and discover our wines with a leisurely tasting in a uniquely appropriate setting. Evening tastings are also possible on Fridays and Saturdays, and, by appointment, any day of the week. The commitment to quality is also one to wines of pronounced character, which means a voluntary limitation of yield per vine. We are constantly in search of innovative methods, of the true character of our terroirs, of forgotten varieties awaiting rediscovery. Each of our vineyard parcels receives regular, individual care, above all in the fall in order to fix the date of harvest, the pivotal moment for the future character of our wines. We also believe that the care of our vineyards must seek the highest quality grapes while also observing the greatest respect for the environment. For this reason we were among the pioneers in the introduction of integrated production fifteen years ago. This method guarantees the sustainable use of chemical intervention. Today we remain in the vanguard of viticultural practice in harmony with the environment such as planting grass between the rows of vines. For the last five years, we have likewise maintained three estates that are cultivated according to the norms of the label Bio Suisse.

Lavaux Expérience Out on the vineyard terraces, with their breathtaking views of the lake, the vines and the mountains, you will have the opportunity to find out all about the winegrower’s work through the changing seasons and to spend around 1 hour putting your newly acquired knowledge into practice. Then afterwards among our oak barrels in the cellars and in our wine vault you can taste the wines from the domaine, accompanied by local dishes typical of our region.
